Can anyone create a poll?
Yes, but you have to be registered on the site.
How do I set up a poll?
Once you are registered, it takes three easy steps;
Step 1: You go to "Create a Poll" page
- 1. Enter your poll questions
-
Here, you can write your question as simply and directly as possible. Keep it short as you only have 200 characters to write it. You can always expand on the question in step 2. Do not lead voters with questions like "don't you agree that…", as you will not get a fair indication from voters.
- 2. Provide possible answers to your question
Here you have two options for answers: - You can select to enter up to 99 different answers or - You can select Yes/No/Other In the first case, just enter one answer in each of the boxes saying "Enter your answer". You can add or remove boxes by clicking on the + or – signs at right of box. You can also add a box by clicking the "enter another answer" box below.
If you wish to modify the order in which your answers appear, just click the up or down arrows on left of each box. That will move them in the desired direction.
You can also add media such as pictures if you want people to choose from pictures; if so, just click media and upload the image for each answer.
For example: If you want to upload an image in your files:
-
Select Image, click choose and browse through your computer to the right file, then click on the file; next, the location of the file will show up in the “choose a Picture” box. At that point just click “upload” and the file will be uploaded. You know that is done when a little icon appears to the right of the “enter Your Answer Box”
By the way, that is where you can give a title to the media you are uploading;
If you want to upload a YouTube file, it is the same; just click on the YouTube icon; it will then ask you to “enter a You Tube Video URL”; Once you have done that just click “ Done” and a little You Tube icon appears to the right of the “enter Your Answer Box.
Don’t forget to enter a Title to the YouTube video in the title box above.
Finally, if you want to add a link, proceed to click the link anchor icon, enter your link and click done; it will set small anchor to the right of the title box. Here again you can enter a Title in that box.
-
If in any of the above procedures you want to delete the media you had set to link, just click the little red Delete box at bottom right of the media uploading box and it will remove the attached media
In the second case, if you just want to have voters select from a yes / no / other choice, just click on the blue "Click here for Yes/No/Other automatic question setup." That will enable you to have it automatically set up. Here too you can add media as above. When you are satisfied with your answers, click next at bottom right of page; that will bring you to step 2.
If, for any reason, you do not have the time to finish your poll, just click "Save for Later" and it will save the poll in the "My Poll Manager" section of your "My Qwanz" area.
You can come back to it at anytime and finish it.
3. Upload a poll image
That's where you can upload an image that relates to the poll you are about to do; It's optional but it will give site visitors an immediate visual reference to your poll and set the context. If you prefer you can just upload an image that represents you either figuratively or just through an image you like. Remember it's optional so you don't have to upload anything.
Step 2:
- 4. Describe why you are creating this poll or the story behind it.
This area allows you to expand on your question and explains what prompted you to create this poll, i.e. an idea you had and wished to express, an article that was published and about which you feel strongly, a statement that was made by a personality, etc. You can also paste and add a paper you wrote or found and that is the basis of your poll. (Text here is limited to 5000 characters.) This section is optional.
- 5. Provide additional context (optional)
Here you can add a link, video, or image from an outside sources to help add context to the poll; a news article or picture, for example.
You do that by clicking on the Image icon, the YouTube icon or the link icon; then can paste the location or URL where that content is located. Don't forget to add the title of your context in the box at the top of the box.
Again, you can save the poll for completion later or move to the Next page.
Step 3:
- 6. Add Tags
This is where you can add the key words that define your poll and its subject; these will be the words that will help users find your poll when they search by key word.
Make sure there are commas between each descriptive word. At least one key word tag is necessary.
- 7. Select Categories
You also must choose the category under which your poll will be found You can mark up to four categories
To select a category, just press Ctrl on your key board, then click the category you wish to add. Repeat for each category;
If you wish to deselect, use same method; select the one you want to remove, press Ctrl and click;
Next you must select a duration for the poll
- 8. Select a Close Date
Here you can have a poll valid anywhere from a day to a year. As a default it is set on "Indefinite" which means your poll will not expire.
- 9. Poll Access
Finally you can decide if this should be a public or private poll, one seen by everyone or a restricted one only available to users to whom you give a pass code. (See Private vs. public poll for more information in How it Works or in FAQ)
That's it; you have completed the three easy steps to publish your poll; Now, you are ready to Save and preview your poll; You poll will then appear as voters will see it;
AT THIS POINT, PLEASE MAKE SURE THERE NO TYPOS OR ERRORS AND THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THE POLL.
IF THERE ARE CHANGES TO BE MADE, YOU CAN EASILY MAKE THOSE BY CLICKING BACK AT BOTTOM LEFT SIDE OF PAGE.
YOU CAN STILL MODIFY ANY SECTION YOU WANT, BUT ONCE PUBLISHED YOU CANNOT CHANGE OR DELETE YOUR POLL.
When ready go back to Save and Preview;
You will again be asked if you want to go Back and make changes or if you want to Publish If you are ready, click Publish and your poll will immediately be available to voters.
Congratulations; You have published your poll and made it available to all. Now feel free to launch another poll or just sit back and see how people voted on your most recent one.
