Though the drop in the rates is comparatively better than the national average. New York auto insurance rates have dropped 2.8 % since 2006 while national average decline is 2.6%. The average premium for New York was pegged at $1,179 in 2007 ( the last year with available information), and $912 for the national average.
Experts say that the decline in New York auto insurances rates reflect that we are headed in the right direction, but are quite a distance away from affordable insurance. Though they've mention that the declines are still a boon to New York in recession. Though it is still stability that is most prized in the NY auto insurance game.
