Safety for pedestrians, especially for those who have special needs is priority, but doesn't this feel like a knee-jerk solution to a problem which may just require the enforcement of already existing laws? Or better yet, just a better design?
With the dependence on fossil fuels becoming a bigger issue daily and thus causing a rise in the popularity of hybrid cars, perhaps it would do us well to take more time to figure out this easily preventable problem.
