Lots of Americans want to cut government spending, and when they are being demonstrated that this would be very hurtful, they respond that there's plenty of money for debt service, military payrolls, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and that some liberal media and the White House are just trying to scare them about the consequences of refusing to raise the debt ceiling.
