With the debacle in Wisconsin with Scott Walker decrying teacher's unions (and other public workers unions,) the belief that teacher's unions defend even bad teachers was further promoted. What people don't know is that there are procedures in place to make sure that bad apples are removed—they do provide the teachers the opportunity to get better with the help of specialists, but they are not kept solely for the sake of keeping.
