College has always been expensive, it seems. A premium was given to those four august years spent in the classroom and hallowed halls before the workaday routines of the corporate world. College has always been expensive, it seems. A premium was given to those four august years spent in the classroom and hallowed halls before the workaday routines of the corporate world. But with the recession pressing on parents (and students) and the need to educate more competent Americans, perhaps a more concentrated, intense three-year curriculum would present an answer.



The cost of hiring more teachers to take the additional course load will be offset by the higher tuition revenue and the savings of using facilities all year round (maintaining empty buildings during the summer are almost equal to the rest of the schoolyear.)



So what is stopping us from making it easier to finish college?
