Is Facebook safe for kids?

As safe as it is for adults. Kids are generally more tech savvy when it comes to privacy settings than their parents and, besides, they’re usually not allowed to have Facebook accounts unless they are of a certain age or are closely monitored.

No, it is not safe. A lot of sexual predators among other criminal elements are mining Facebook for data that could lead them to their next victim.

Recently, the Facebook change your profile pic into a cartoon trend supposedly to generate awareness for violence against children wall posts took an ugly turn and generated wall posts that claimed that the trend was started by pedophiles in order to gain better access to kids. It didn’t really make much sense but it generated outraged remarks about how Facebook was not safe for kids including a mom who said she’d do anything to protect her 10-month old baby. There is no reason to believe that the 10-month old baby had a Facebook account as of the creation of this poll.
