From attacks on Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson, to a couple of crude jabs at Hugh Hefner to addressing the Golden Globes backlash for nominating Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and The Tourist, Ricky Gervais hit Hollywood hard with his opening monologue. The host went for it from the beginning, toting a beer with him up to the podium and taking on Tinseltown with full force!



As host, Ricky wasn’t trying to be playful — he was gutsy and out for blood.



“It’s going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking,” Ricky began in his opening monologue. “Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast.”



Ricky Gervais is well-known for his difficult-to-swallow humor, and his hosting last Sunday's Golden Globes was no different. He showed no mercy and made light of the many follies of being in Hollywood. Industry insiders are divided between finding him funny or offensive, which is just par the course for someone as courageous or crazy as this British Actor.
