Since Congo has the largest deposits of cobalt in the world—a key component in the creation of lithium ion batteries and coltan used in cellular phones, laptops, etc—they've been embroiled in a long internal war. The conditions have also allowed child labor situations,violence against women and other atrocities to thrive.
With Eve Ensler and both liberals and conservatives seeking the stop of these activities, a passage focused on these conflict minerals.
