Yemen is being urged by international rights groups to set its minimum age for marriage at 18 years old. At present, based on a report by the Human Rights Watch (RHW) based in New York, young girls as young as 8 years old are being married off. Some of the girls have reportedly told HRW that they were subjected to marital rape and domestic abuse.
