>>>A book about about Mahatma Gandi, by Pulitzer Prize winner Joseph Lelyveld, reportedly contains suggestions that the great Indian leader may have been in a homosexual relationship.
Lelyveld denies this and says that his work was taken out of context.
However, several entries in the book have raised not a few eyebrows and speculations.
in several reviews of the book Great Soul, details about Gandhi’s relationship with a German named Kallenbach does seem to suggest an intimacy between the two men that is often reserved for lovers.
For example, it has been mentioned that the only portrait on the mantelpiece opposite Gandhi’s bed is that of Kallenbach’s. Also, a lettter from Gandhi to Kallenback reportedly reads: “How completely you have taken possess-on of my body. This is slavery with a vengeance.”
