Mark Post, a biologist at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, believes he can create the world’s first guilt-free burger within a year. Mark Post, along with other scientists, have been working on making burgers that don’t come from cows but are instead grown in a petri dish. They are doing this by using stem cells and growing them into strips of muscle tissue.
This “in vitro” meat can mean the elimination of cow slaughter for their meat. It is also projected to be a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional meat production.
