Santorum is a staunch supporter of privatizing Medicare which also includes the elimination of traditional Medicare as an option for senior citizens. Santorum’s strong support of privatization regardless, Medicare has shown a good track record of controlling health care costs than private insurers. It has also been credited for the introduction of market innovations and payment reforms that private plans later adopted.
