Facebook distills what is the scariest thing about the Internet, its complete disregard for privacy. It's as easy as a click to share your deepest, darkest secrets.

It's also a reflection of what may be wrong about our knowledge of the web, how we can't just be passive users riding on default settings.

Similarly, it's a pretty good statement on anthropology—how people forget that their actions always affect someone else. There have been instances of people being fired or arrested or even going free or breaking up because of Facebook so it would be unwise to just see it as that thing you do.



It's like sex really, with the sexual liberation—people became more open about sexual activity and forget that a couple of minutes of play could really change your life. So really, if you can manage to use protection for sex, perhaps you could use some of your head for how exactly you're going to use Facebook and the rest of social media.
