Traditionally, women take on the name of their husbands upon marriage. Lately, it has not been uncommon to see women either keep their own names or hyphenate their names with those of their husband’s after marriage. How about having the option of taking the woman’s last name after marriage? Is that an option that should be made available to couples that are planning to marry? One of the advantages of having this option is that fathers need not worry about having daughters in the family for fear that without sons there will be no child to carry on his family name.
