USA Today found out that there is a large number of cases where school teachers have helped students cheat on exams. This has resulted in critics of mandated state testing — which is at the heart of a decades-long push to define standards and raise accountability — pushing for this strong recommendation: Get rid of the test!
There are also other issues against standardized testing. Some see that these tests marginalize children. According to critics, children from poor families and from minorities are more susceptible to failing these tests compared to rich kids. Testing also tends to discourage children’s creativity in favor of getting superficial achievement results.
