In the sixth season of the hit CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”, the character named Barney Stinson elaborated on a theory that if a guy is around a woman long enough, no matter how unappealing she is, she eventually ends up looking like a mermaid to him. Stinson bases this theory on how long ago, sailors used to picture manatees as mermaids due to long periods without female contact.
