It looks the car has lost its romanticism. Because of trendy hyper-awareness about ecological issues, the generation who is just about to buy their first cars for themselves (not as gifts from their parents) might opt out of the automobile choice altogether. It might not even be a decision between a hybrid car or otherwise anymore. It just might be NO CAR at all. Seeing it as a source of pollution more than a status or sex symbol, the car just maybe losing its power....

Compound that with rising prices of gasoline and the exorbitant rates of car insurance. And you've got a generation who are not diving headlong into the romance of the car or the obsession with the new car smell.
