With the District's funds controlled by Congress, DC has long been a bargaining chip in political combat. Because of this, there has been real clamor for some measure of control over their own finances. DC Mayor Vincent Grey and other DC Council members were arrested when they protested. So doesn't this only emphasize that DC should either gain statehood or at least a greater sense of autonomy?
