Although all that dirt digging and mudslinging that characterize the election process have their good use (think Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, etc.), dirty tricks nevertheless are increasingly tainting the way we practice our brand of democracy. It should not be surprising that given the way we go about our elections, people with the kind of qualifications and integrity that this country needs will never find themselves running for public office. Not only that, it is turning off voters from going out and vote.
