Republicans have been behaving in such a way that does not seem to make much economic sense. Firstly, they are resisting efforts to raise the debt limit which is critical to keep the U.S. economy afloat. Secondly, they are also resisting to raise taxes which is important to generate more funds for the government to use for both the delivery of services to Americans as well as help address the debt crisis. Is it too much to assume that Republicans may want the economy to be in shambles so that an economy in trouble would mean trouble for Obama’s prospects of getting re-elected?
