>>>Sarah Palin’s detractors are at her again after she refers to negative media news commentaries about her, following the Tucson shooting, as a case of blood libel against her. The phrase was in a video she posted on her Facebook page last Wednesday.
In that statement, she cited “vigorous and spirited debates during elections” as among the most cherished of American traditions. She added that everyone is free to debate ideas and propose better ones. However, she said that “within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn.”
Blood libel refers to a false accusation or claim that religious minorities, usually Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.
Palin had earlier targeted Giffords' district as one of 20 that should be taken back. She was heavily criticized for her map marking each district with the cross hairs of a gun sight.
