>>>Education Secretary Arne Duncan made a rather odd claim recently that Texas’ school system has “really struggled” during the 12 years that Gov. Rick Perry has been in office. In an interview with Bloomberg’s Al Hunt, Duncan said that “far too few of their high-school graduates are actually prepared to go on to college” and also that Duncan feels “very, very badly for the children there.”
The problem with Duncan’s statement is that the facts will show that Texas is basically average when it comes to test scores and graduation rates. So even if it’s admitted that the Texas school system isn’t doing too great, the things is it’s not just about Texas. It’s about many other school systems all over the country. This kind of statement from Duncan does make one think why the need to single out Texas and, more importantly, why single out Perry? Is the White House scared that Perry may just be the man that Obama will need to beat in the upcoming election?
