The group "CannaCare" paid KTXL, Sacramento's FOX affiliate, to produce and air a thirty-second advertisement promoting the use of cannabis to relieve certain medical conditions, including HIV, Hepatitis C and back pain.
The ad features various patients of CannaCare giving testimonials as to how pot use helped ease pain associated with certain conditions. The advertisement does not mention the word "marijuana," and the actual substance is not shown.
The station's general manager and news director seemed supportive of the ad, but says the station itself does not promote pot use.
