Read more …It's not to far off to say that capitalism is suffering from a credibility crisis. After the recent economic collapse brought on by unbridled corporate greed, there is a pervasive sense of distrust of capitalism that can be gleaned from online forum discussions, the Occupy movements, and prime time comedy show punchlines
Banks had to be bailed out using taxpayers’ money and some of that taxpayers’ money was used to pay for the big bonuses of bank executives. Meanwhile, millions of Americans suffered (and continue to suffer) from unemployment and mortgage foreclosures. Moreover, mortgage foreclosure procedures were effectively used against Americans in order to make taking people’s homes away from them a lucrative source of income for banks.
That regardless, defenders of capitalism claim that the economic hardships the country is facing can be addressed by capitalism, too. There is just a need for a shakedown of certain economic policies and resilience to ride through the rough patches.
