The majority of Protestants and Evangelical Christians today believe that the Bible is the literal word of God and therefore should be taken literally word for word. That means when it comes to the interpretation of the holy scripture, it should be understood as it is written. However, other Christians feel that the Bible is the inspired word of God. That it is the word of God but contains ancient fables, legends, and history as recorded by man on behalf of God.
