The question is, does being good require a moral Law Giver? Atheists and agnostics say that goodness doesn’t require God because morality is already embedded in our genes; morality is a by-product of evolution. This is the reason why our species survived in the first place. We can’t live in a society (being a social animal) if we don’t have a high ethical standard in our system.
But believers, especially Christians disagree. They say that those who don’t believe in a God who has defined for man what is right from wrong make morality an illusion. Without a belief in God, morality then becomes a subjective concept rather than one that is absolute.
