Some biblical archaeologists and Christian apologists claim there are proofs of this global deluge. Different cultures have different version of this flood story. They say that these “legends” were memories written by the ancients telling of a single flood.
Yet some critics and liberal Christians disagree. They say that the flood was not a global catastrophe that it was just a regional event. The Euphrates River flooded about 2900 BC at the end of the Jemdet Nasr period and the beginning of the Early Dynastic period. Some also say that it's not be taken literally.
