The phrase sanctity of life refers to the idea that human life is sacred. This is the argument promoted mainly by the pro-life side in political and moral debates over such controversial issues as abortion, contraception, euthanasia, and the "right to die" in developed countries. But with all the tragedies that happen in the the world like war, disease, hunger, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and so many other atrocities, the question has to be asked: Is life really sacred? Or, is it just a social concept?
