A lot of the GMO (genetically modified organism) bashing involve a lot of sensationalism with the seeming intent to create panic. Half-truths, misconceptions and information that has long been supplanted by more recent information are used to bolster claims that GMO is not fit for human because the organism has been altered at the genetic level so it’s not possible to predict the consequences of such a manipulation.
However, adequate research would show that genetic engineering only transfers a small, known packet of genes in a controlled manner. In contrast, traditional methods of plant manipulation involve transferring or mutating large amounts of genes in an uncontrolled manner. Methods like cross breeding and grafting are examples of traditional methods which, if one examines more closely, is more radical and unpredictable than genetic engineering in terms of gene manipulation.
